Slave Mentality to Kingly Mentality

Understanding Our Identity in Christ

The Bible tells us that we have been made to reign with Christ. Revelation 6 declares that Jesus has made us "kings" and priests to His God and Father. Yet, many of us continue to live as though we are slaves to circumstances, fear, and past failures. We may know in our minds that we are "more than conquerors" (Romans 8:37), but our actions and thoughts often reflect a defeated mindset.

God is calling us to rise above the limitations of a slave mentality. As Philippians 2:5 says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." This mindset—the mind of Christ—is victorious; it's a mindset that knows no defeat. It's the mindset that Jesus Himself had, one of authority, confidence and unwavering faith in the Father's plan in the marketplace.

The Shift from Slave to Kingly Mentality

In the book of Exodus, God desired to deliver the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and lead them into the Promised Land. However, their mindset had to change before they could possess the land. After 400 years of bondage, the Israelites developed a slave mentality, thinking they were inferior, powerless, and dependent on their oppressors for survival. God could not use them in that state. Proverbs 23:7 says, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." If their minds remained enslaved, their actions and faith would follow suit.

In a divine strategy, God took Moses, an Israelite child, and raised him in the palace of Pharaoh. Moses was raised as royalty, thinking, moving, and functioning like a king. He was not bound by the limiting mindset of slavery but had the authority and confidence to stand before Pharaoh and declare, "Let my people go!" (Exodus 5:1).

God needed someone with a kingly mindset to deliver His people, just as He needs believers today to rise and walk in their royal identity to advance His Kingdom out in the marketplace!

Authority in Christ: Walking as Kings

We are not beneath; we are above. Deuteronomy 28:13 says, "And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not beneath." Too many in the Church continue to live as though they are a victim of their circumstances. God says, "Enough is enough!"

It is time for the Body of Christ to step into our apostolic and prophetic authority, symbolised by the 12 stars mentioned in Revelation 12:1. God is crowning His Church with the authority to declare His will on earth. We must understand that, as kings, we have the authority to establish decrees in the spiritual realm. Job 22:28 confirms this: "You will also decree a thing," and it will be established for you."

Breaking the Chains of the Slave Mentality

To fully embrace the kingly mindset, we must actively renounce the limiting beliefs of the slave mentality. This includes:

1. Rejecting Fear: God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

2. Embracing Dominion: We are called to have dominion over all the works of the enemy and the earth (Genesis 1:28). As kings, we have been anointed to plant, uproot, and release things in the spiritual realm.

3. Operating in Authority: Jesus said, "Behold, I give you the authority... over all the power of the enemy, and"nothing shall by any means hurt you" (Luke 10:19).

When the Church steps into this authority, we will no longer be bound by the chains of limitation. We will walk boldly into the spaces God has called us to, knowing that we carry His presence and His power. As Psalm 47:2 declares, "For the Lord Most High is awesome; He"is a great King over all the earth."

A Call to Rise

The time has come for the Church to rise into its kingly identity. Like Moses, we have been called the King's slave house and entered the King's house. We are no longer victims; we are victors through Christ. Let us cast off the slave mentality and walk in the dominion, authority, and victory that Christ has given us.

God is bringing a shift in this generation. He is raising a Church that will walk in power and authority, decree His will and see His Kingdom established on earth. You are called to be part of this movement—to be crowned with the kingly mindset and to operate in the fullness of your identity in Christ.

As we receive our true identity in Him, we will see the King of Kings move through us in ways that transform our world. So, rise, mighty King! Let the mind of Christ be in you, and walk in the authority He has given you.
