Called to the Marketplace: Real Ministry
Jun 28, 2024
In today's world, there's a growing buzz around "Marketplace Ministry," but this concept isn't new. It's actually how Jesus operated. Out of the 52 parables Jesus taught, 45 had a workplace context. The realisation of this "Marketplace Ministry," buzz, indicates that the Spirit of God is awakening a sleeping giant: The Church or Ecclesia. The Great Commission emphasises "GO" rather than "COME." This means believers are meant to be activated, trained, and sent out into the Marketplace.
The the purpose and existence of Legacy Marketplace, is a ministry of hope and empowerment within the Body of Christ, bridging the gap between spiritual growth and practical success. Through biblical foundations, spiritual insights, and our practical transformative training, we aim to nurture a generation of successful, purpose-driven, and kingdom-focused leaders, entrepreneurs, and kingdom influences.
Three fundamental areas are essential to equip believers: Hearing the Voice of God, Cultivating Prophetic Insights into your assignment, and developing overcomer mindsets.
Overcoming Hindering Beliefs
Over the years, the Body of Christ has faced several limiting belief systems:
1. Sacred vs. Secular Life:
Believers often separate their spiritual lives from their secular activities. This lack of consistency undermines Jesus's holistic approach to a life of faith. Wherever you are called is sacred.
2. Sunday-Only Holiness:
Many think that God's presence is confined to Sunday worship services. However, God desires to work through us every day of the week. You are Holy and carry the presence and power of God.
3. Five-Fold Ministry Exclusivity:
There's a misconception that only those in the five-fold ministry (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers) can experience God's power. Yet, Jesus empowered all believers to carry His presence and demonstrate His Kingdom.
In truth, Jesus and His disciples often performed more miracles in the marketplace than in the synagogues. This doesn't negate the importance of corporate worship, especially when the Bible says NOT TO FORSAKE the gathering of the saints, but merely highlights the need for believers to carry their faith into every aspect of their lives.
Embracing Marketplace Ministry
The Marketplace encompasses trade, business, economics, politics, and all areas where our vocations are lived out. Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) states, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." This underscores our calling to live out our faith in every sphere of life.
Jesus instructed, "Occupy until I come" (Luke 19:13). Another translation says, "Do business until I come." This mandate extends to every area of society, including business, politics, arts, media, education, families, religion, and health otherwise know as the Mountains of influence.
Keys to Living a Life of Impact
1. Discover Your Purpose:
Understanding your God-given purpose requires learning to hear His voice, being led by His Spirit, and seeking His guidance in fulfilling your destiny.
2. Be Faithful in Small Things:
"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJV). Whether flipping burgers, filing papers, or managing a company, be faithful in your tasks and trust God to orchestrate your steps.
3. Use Your Gifts:
"As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God" (1 Peter 4:10 NKJV). Your unique gifts and talents are meant to serve others and advance God's Kingdom.
Call to Action
It's not just the responsibility of the five-fold ministry to engage in the marketplace; it's every believer's calling. The Church must position itself within society, impacting and influencing every sphere of life. Each believer is called to move beyond the church walls and advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel through their vocations.
Remember, faithful ministry is service rendered to God and others, as demonstrated by Jesus' servant leadership. We aim to advance God's Kingdom in word and deed wherever He has placed us.
Conclusion
The "Marketplace movement" isn't a new movement; it's a call back to the roots of how Jesus operated. There is a huge harvest of Souls waiting to be harvested, and it will require all doing their part to accomplish this. As believers, we are called to carry God's presence into every aspect of our lives, influencing and transforming society. Let's remove in- congruency between secular and sacred mentalities, and let's declare the ground and environment you enter, Holy because you carry the presence of God, you are anointed and appointed by Him. Let's embrace this calling with faith, courage, and a heart entirely devoted to God.
